Dive Brief:
Envision Healthcare’s chief financial officer and chief information officer are leaving the physician staffing firm, Envision said Monday.
Former CFO Henry Howe will depart the company at the beginning of January, according to a press release. J. Michael Bruff, previously finance chief at senior primary care chain ChenMed, took over the CFO role effective Oct. 28.
CIO Megan Barney will also leave Envision in early January. The firm has launched an executive search to find a replacement.
Dive Insight:
The leadership changes follow a year of upheaval at the physician staffing firm. Envision filed for bankruptcy in May last year, citing financial pressures from declining patient volumes and battles with insurers. The company also blamed the implementation of the No Surprises Act, a law that aimed to protect patients from unexpected medical bills.
Envision emerged from restructuring in November, saying it had reduced its debt by more than 70% and split from its ambulatory surgery unit.
The company has switched up its executive team in recent months. Envision named a new permanent CEO in April after previous chief executive Jim Rechtin left to join Humana late last year.
In September, the physician staffing firm named three new executive appointments, including a chief integration officer, a chief people officer and a chief strategy officer.
Before working at ChenMed, Bruff served as CFO of mental healthcare provider Lifestance Health and radiation oncology systems and software maker Varian Medical Systems, which was acquired by Siemens Healthineers. He also served in finance and business roles at Dell for 19 years, according to Envision’s press release.

Howe, who joined the company in 2020, will stay on as a senior advisor to the executive team during the transition.
