Name: Nader Kabbani
Previous title: Senior vice president, transformation initiatives, Symbotic
New title: Chief operations officer, Hims & Hers Health
Kabbani will take on Hims & Hers’ chief operations role starting May 19, the telehealth firm said Monday.
The executive worked for nearly 20 nears at Amazon, and over his tenure led the company’s 2018 acquisition of online pharmacy PillPack and the launch of Amazon Pharmacy, according to a press release.
Kabbani also headed up Amazon’s effort to provide COVID-19 vaccines to its employees, and built the operational framework behind some of the firm’s other major offerings such as Amazon Logistics, Amazon Kindle and Prime Video.
He most recently worked at warehouse robotics and automation company Symbotic and supply chain logistics firm Flexport, according to Kabbani’s LinkedIn.
“Nader’s experience scaling operations at the highest level makes him uniquely qualified to help us build the future of healthcare,” Andrew Dudum, Hims & Hers’ CEO and founder, said in a statement.
Kabbani’s appointment comes weeks after Hims & Hers reported that its previous chief operating officer, Melissa Baird, would transition into an advisory role.
Meanwhile, the telehealth firm, which offers services for sexual health, mental health and personal care, has faced a tumultuous start to the year as its ability to sell in-demand weight loss drugs fluctuated.
In February, Hims & Hers reported it might stop offering compounded versions of Novo Nordisk’s GLP-1 medication Wegovy, after the Food and Drug Administration determined the drug was no longer in shortage. But late last month, the company announced a partnership with Novo Nordisk to offer the medication at a discounted price.
Hims & Hers also beat Wall Street expectations for earnings and revenue in first quarter earnings released early this week. The telehealth firm recorded net income of $49.5 million for the first quarter, compared to net income of $11.1 million in the prior year. Revenue reached $586 million, rising from $278.2 million same time last year.
