Trent Green is stepping down as CEO of Amazon One Medical on April 4 after less than two years at the helm of the primary care provider, according to a company spokesperson.
He’ll start work as chief executive of the National Research Corporation, a healthcare analytics firm, on June 1.
Before he was CEO, Green was chief operating officer of One Medical, according to his LinkedIn. Green was appointed to replace Amir Dan Rubin as CEO of the primary care provider in August 2023, after Rubin served more than six years as chief executive.
He joined the provider as COO just as Amazon inked plans to acquire One Medical for $3.9 billion.
Since the retail and e-commerce giant closed the deal in early 2023, Amazon has taken steps to integrate One Medical into its other products, including offering membership discounts for Prime customers, folding Amazon’s telehealth marketplace into the primary care chain and rebranding its senior care centers under the One Medical name.
The CEO change comes about a year after Amazon cut hundreds of jobs across One Medical and Amazon Pharmacy and closed several corporate offices. In the fall, the primary care chain said it was partnering with Cleveland Clinic to build clinics in Ohio, and it announced a partnership with New York-based Montefiore Health System early this year.
One Medical hasn’t been Amazon’s only foray into healthcare. The company acquired online pharmacy PillPack in 2018, later launching its own pharmacy arm. The company has also shut down some of its healthcare enterprises. It shuttered employee healthcare service Amazon Care in 2022 and a joint healthcare venture with J.P. Morgan and Berkshire Hathaway in early 2021.
