Zamansky took on the chief product and technology role at the telehealth vendor effective Monday, according to a press release from Amwell. He’ll lead the company’s product and research and development organizations, focusing on the virtual care platform offered to payers and health systems.
He comes to the telehealth firm from Amazon, where he spent more than a decade in leadership positions across product management, engineering and technology, according to Amwell.
Zamansky founded and led Amazon Web Services Health AI, offering artificial intelligence tools for healthcare and life science companies. Most recently, he served as general manager for platform core services at the e-commerce giant, overseeing technology teams in Amazon’s ad business, according to his LinkedIn.
Zamansky succeeds Vaughn Paunovich, who held the title of executive vice president of enterprise platforms and joined Amwell in 2022, according to the telehealth vendor. Paunovich left the company for personal reasons, an Amwell spokesperson told Healthcare Dive.
Amwell has made several changes to its leadership team over the past year.
In October, the company named Mark Hirschhorn, former executive at fellow telehealth firms TapestryHealth and Teladoc Health, as its chief financial officer. He expanded his responsibilities and also became the company’s chief operating officer at the beginning of the year.
Additionally, Kathy Weiler, former chief commercial and growth officer, left Amwell at the end of 2024, according to a securities filing. Roy Schoenberg, who previously held the co-CEO position, also stepped down last summer to serve as executive vice chairman of Amwell’s board of directors.
The telehealth vendor is working to achieve positive cash flow by 2026, Amwell executives reiterated during a fourth-quarter earnings call last month. The company narrowed its losses last year, reporting a $212.6 million net loss last year compared to $679.2 million loss in 2023.
Amwell is also working to focus its product portfolio on key growth drivers. In January, the company sold its virtual psychiatric care business to another telehealth provider, Avel eCare.
