Getting to Mexico just got easier—and cheaper.
Volaris Airlines, a major carrier throughout Mexico, recently announced dozens of new routes from the United States, with a major expansion that including the launch of service at New York/Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). From Newark, the airline will begin service to Guadalajara, Mexico and San Salvador, El Salvador. Other new routes include service to Morelia, Monterrey, and San Luis Potosi.
Best of all, the airline is celebrating the new routes with discounts of up to 70 percent off as part of the airline’s ‘Love is in the Air’ fare sale. Travelers can save on the flights by applying the promotion code VOLH70 during the booking process, from now through February 17, 2025. The code is valid on travel between July 16, 2025 and October 31, 2025, making it a perfect opportunity of late summer or fall travel vacations.
In addition to the Newark routes, there will be a variety of new routes connecting Texas to Mexico, including Dallas to Morelia, Monterrey, and San Luis Potosí. From Houston, there will be new service to Morelia and Monterrey. The airline will also add flights from San Antonio to Morelia and San Luis Potosí.
From California, the airline will launch new routes from Oakland to Los Cabos and Zacatecas. In Los Angeles, the airline will launch new routes to Tepic and Querétaro.
The airline didn’t provide guidance on when each route would start, but revealed they will launch progressively starting on March 20, 2025 through the summer.
“This increase in Volaris’ domestic and international routes reaffirms our commitment to offering Customers in and outside of México the best opportunities to travel more affordably, comfortably, and safely to more destinations—whether to be closer to loved ones, for business, or simply to enjoy great leisure moments on vacation,” Volaris’ Executive Vice President Holger Blankenstein shared in a statement to Travel + Leisure.
As part of the Newark Airport launch, the airline will cease its operations at John F. Kennedy International Airport, and move operations to Newark, according to the release.
